The Tentacle-y Game of the Year – The Contenders

So, despite the fact that I write about cooking, tea, politics and social theory stuff, cats and cute things – I do actually play (basically all the time) video games! And I wanted to do my own game (or games) of the year. I’ve decided to do this at what most people consider the actual end of the year, rather than say…The Golden Joystick awards which is at some time during the year…other than Christmas.

Now, my game of the year is obviously, obviously going to be biased to my taste – and I haven’t played all the games that came out this year anyway (though neither have a lot of ‘professional’ reviewers either, so meh). So here are the 2011 released game’s that I have gotten this year:

On Consoles:

LittleBigPlanet 2
Dead Space 2
Killzone 3
Dynasty Warriors 7
Mortal Kombat
Portal 2
L.A. Noire
Infamous 2
Alice: Madness Returns
Duke Nukem Forever
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine
Batman: Arkham City
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Resistance 3
Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception

And on PC:

Magicka
Back to the Future: The Game
Total War: Shogun 2
Terraria
The Sims 3: Generations
F.E.A.R. 3
Minecraft
Puzzle Agent 2

Those are the contenders, so to speak,. There’ll be different categories – Best Overall Game, Worst Game, Best Money/Time ratio, Prettiest Game and possibly a ‘most over-hyped/disappointing in the end’ game.

There are also a few games that I wanted to play that I haven’t managed to, for various reasons. These are: Sonic Generations, Assassins Creed Revelations, Saints Row The Third, The Sims 3 Pets, To The Moon, and The Book of Unwritten Tales. If I do get to play them and their noteworthy, chances are I’ll make a post about them anyway!

Anyway, the game/games of the year I decide on will be the next post – this is simply a pre-post. Bye!
